Welcome to the Safe Havens of Arda! We were first established by Fernelf in November of 2003, when the Lord of the Rings Online was still just a dream called Middle Earth Online. Some things have changed a bit along the way, but at heart we are still the same relaxed, inviting place we've always been!
I'd like to take the opportunity to tell you a little about the Safe Havens, in case you're interested! SHoA was originally intended to be an RP Kinship that also supported Non-RP players. While we do still enjoy the odd role-playing moment (i.e. poking fun at our drunken Dwarf Guardian who always tends to have one foot in the death-waters of Carn Dum), we certainly have no real claim to the strict label "Role-Playing Kinship" like several of our more well known proteges. Our goal is to be open to all play styles because that's what makes life (and the game) interesting!!
The best word to describe SHoA is probably laid-back. We are group of close friends from many different walks of life who came together through this game. We're very easy going with few rules and no drama; our members range in age from early 20's to retired across all U.S. time zones, but we all have real life responsibilities that have to be put first sometimes. We usually try to get a group together once or twice a week for some structured action, whether that be grinding traits or working on Epics or running instances.
To sum up...the only players who probably won't fit with our group are hard-core raiders and drama-queens/kings. And we've actually even had a couple of those raid-aholics who loved us!
We're looking to expand our roster by a few good members, so if you'd like to join us for a two week test drive, just post here or contact an officer in game! No hard feelings if you decide we aren't the place for you afterward, but it can't hurt to give us a try. Also, if you have any questions about us, don't hesitate to speak up. You can either post in this thread or shoot me a PM!
I can be found on Adrianna, Cirlonde, Leilanni or Rhaenwyn. Some of our other officers are Korgan, Mithenion, Garavil, Randamir, Karmar, Saul, Adoreth & Astin.
We do have a few things that you'll need to be aware of if you intend to try us out.
1. Be respectful. We all laugh, joke, and make fun of each other but blatant rudeness will not be tolerated.
2. Remember that we're all here to have fun. Needless drama (and 99.999% of it is) is not acceptable.
3. Recruits are not required to post on the forums, though we do encourage it. However, anyone interested in becoming a full-fledged member will need to create an account and post in this thread. Our forums are the primary means of communication among our members and it's a good idea to check them at least once a week.
Forum Tips:
Some useful things to know about our forums:
1. The General Board is used for any information that we want all visitors and members to see.
2. The Varya Yaana is where most of the action happens. It is the primary place to find information for members only. You can go here to ask for help on quests, plan events, advertise items you have for sale or request items you'd like to purchase, or just talk about day to day life.
3. Make good use of the "New Posts" button located on the left side of the screen under Community. It will show you anything that's been added since your last visit.
4. ASK QUESTIONS! If you can't find something or you're confused at all about anything, please ask. We are super friendly and love to help out!!
